EXCLUSIVE: WILLY JOY Interview in Chicago @ Soldier Field

Willy Joy is a “Chicagoland” DJ who has been spinning up dirty jams in the Windy City’s electro scene. He’s shared stages with names such as Justice, Deadmau5, and Designer Drugs.
I got to sit down with him after his set and talk about his selection of music, the all ages crowd at the sold out Deadmau5 (headliner) show, his current status with the Trouble & Bass label, and some of the various workings to his production. One thing that stood out about Willy is that he definitely knows how to work with the crowd, all ages or not. I’ve been to his Fly By Night events and REHAB at Debonair a few times, and there’s typically a lot of 90’s throwbacks and tracks you might expect to hear in a Chicago club, but coming into this show, he treated the all ages crowd with some solid gold hits from Daft Punk, Major Lazer, Benni Benassi, Drop the Lime, and The Lion King. The crowd went nuts over these drops; dropping banger after banger and splitting heads like the hangover I’m sure a handful of you will be having when the sun comes up tomorrow.

Check out Willy working with the crowd in this video!

About
The Lightning Collective is a promotional music blog hellbent on opening the eyes and ears to music and the arts. Created out of the necessity of two college kids looking to stir up some trouble in a vacuous wasteland, the organization aims to build a community for creativity and culture where freethinking and inspiration is hard to come by. Originally based in State College, PA where the duo formerly hosted a radio show Friday nights on the LION 90.7FM, the student radio station at the Pennsylvania State University. Both are now apart working closely together bringing new music, interviews, and music related news.
NOTE: We strictly only post content for promotional streaming purposes. If you are the artist / label / manager / PR group and would like your content removed, please email us. We will remove it as soon as we can.
